Within my artistic practice I mainly make use of burned paper combined with my own, or other people’s fingerprints.
Fire is vivid, filled with unconfined energy. It does as it pleases and has a certain anatomy over it’s own being.
Within my work I try to capture this by lightly burning paper to the point where it turns golden/orange.
The colours that the flames create onto paper are best visible when illuminated from behind.
When burning the paper, it’s like I am capturing the raw energy of the flames.
The light doesn’t just enhance the colours and shapes that have appeared, but almost blow life back into the work itself.
This exchange between the flame that takes something away from the paper, but also adds something really fascinates me.
